A quick post today as I’m still catching up from this weekend’s trip over to California.  I traveled across the border for a little 2 day camping trip with some fellow photographers.  Our itinerary had us camping at the Joshua Tree national park on Friday and spending the day shooting what we could at the park.  The next day would have us departing for the Salton Sea to spend our Saturday afternoon shooting at Bombay Beach.

For me the real treat in all this was a chance to actually meet some friends from the social media world.  I finally got to put a face to Chris DeAngelis, Heath O’Fee, and Doug Wise.   The rest of the gang was filled out with Mike Olbinski and Rick Young.  I had a great time hanging out with everyone and look forward to sharing more of the trip.

The image above was taken at Bombay Beach near sunset.  The Salton Sea has to be one of the strangest places I’ve ever visited.  Look for a full write up on this epic trip in the near future.

Until next time…

  1. Wow! I’ve flown over this place several times but never realized that this is what it looks like on the ground! Great picture Chris! Can’t wait to see the rest.

  2. I remember passing this on the way from San Diego heading inland to Palm Springs (I think!). Great composition and the soft colours are wonderful. For me, this sums up tranquility very well.
