First Strike

A lightning strike in the Arizona desert

Woohoo!  The 2012 monsoon season has officially started for me.   I was able to capture my first lightning strikes of the 2012 season.

Last night we had some storms roll through the Casa Grande area (about 40 miles south of Phoenix) that were pretty severe.  I was a little concerned when I left the house as I had a late start.  The radar showed most of the storms as dying off and not much growing activity.  So I took a chance and headed south anyways.  By the time I got to Casa Grande the rain was pouring and lightning was around.  Giddy!

I eventually hooked with my buddy Bryan Snyder and his wife Monica to wait out the rain.  Our patience paid off as the rain left and was followed by a decent light show courtesy of Mother Nature.  Bryan and I were both able to grab several good shots and I look forward to sharing those with you over the next few months.  I’m also excited to seeing Bryan’s shots as well as the time lapse that he got before I arrived.

Ahh monsoon season is here!!!

Until next time…
